The Open Door Days was held today, August 4, and this time the Genesis Project, a new member of the Human Rights House Banja Luka, opened its doors.
“The Human Rights House Banja Luka is a coalition of civil society organizations that work together to improve and promote human rights. The House today consists of ten organizations. We advocate developing a free, open, pluralistic, democratic, equal and inclusive society based on respect, protection and promotion of the highest standards and norms of human rights and freedoms”, said Tanja Boromisa from the Human Rights House Banja Luka.
The Open Door Days were an opportunity for the attendees to get to know the Genesis Project, an organization with more than 27 years of experience in working with youth, and this year, for the first time, it is leading an international consortium within the Erasmus+ program: UPSHIFT, which brings together partners from BiH, Croatia, North Macedonia and Albania to empower 200 young leaders.
“Since 2021, Genesis Project has implemented the UPSHIFT program in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thanks to a partnership with UNICEF BiH. This is the first time that a local organization from Banja Luka has led an international consortium that brings together partners from BiH, Croatia, North Macedonia and Albania, with the aim of offering young people concrete tools to solve problems in their communities with the help of mentors, digital skills and social innovations”, said Dijana Pejić from Genesis Project.
UPSHIFT combines non-formal education, digital literacy and mentoring to offer young people concrete tools to create positive change in their communities. Regional UPSHIFT focuses on: digital skills, social innovation and active citizenship!
Activities in the upcoming period are:
- A training for UPSHIFT mentors will be held in Zagreb from September 24 to 26. A total of 40 young people from four countries will participate in the training: Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Albania.
- The first regional UPSHIFT workshop will be held from November 10 to 14, 2025 in Sarajevo.
- The second regional UPSHIFT workshop will be held from March 23 to 27, 2026 in North Macedonia.
- A total of 40 teams from these 4 countries will participate in these two UPSHIFT workshops and more than 200 young people from these countries will be present.
- The expert jury will award grants of 1,600 euros each to the 16 teams that develop the best solutions to the nominated problems (a total of 25,600 euros).
Genesis Project is successfully building a network of cooperation, peace, and knowledge among young people through UPSHIFT.
