The opening of the exhibition “Face of a Defender” in Sarajevo at the Collegium artisticum on April 11

The exhibition “Face of a Defender” will open on April 11 at 7 p.m. at the Collegium Artisticum in Sarajevo, and visitors have the opportunity to see photographs of portraits of 12 women human rights defenders from Bosnia and Herzegovina until April 25.

The aim of the exhibition is to pay tribute to women human rights defenders from Bosnia and Herzegovina who do not give up in the fight for human dignity and well-being, and to bring their work closer and familiarize citizens with their work.

The photographs were taken by local photographers, and show 12 women human rights defenders from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina who work on various issues: from the protection and promotion of the rights of women, children and other vulnerable and minority groups, to building peace and a culture of remembrance, environmental protection and the fight against corruption.

The defenders were nominated by civil society organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the selection was made by an expert jury.

This exhibition in Sarajevo is organized by the “Human Rights House” Banja Luka and the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka, with the support of the Association Network for Peace Building and Coolegium artisticum.

In addition to Sarajevo, the exhibition was organized in Tuzla and Banja Luka.

The exhibition also aims to inform citizens about the work of the “Human Rights House” Banja Luka and its legal team, which provides free legal assistance to defenders who find themselves in crisis or risky situations.

The exhibition “Face of a Defender” can also be seen virtually at: https://kucaljudskihprava.org/izlozba-lice-braniteljice/, where you can also read inspiring interviews with 12 human rights defenders.

The exhibition was inspired by the “Portraits of Strength” featuring human rights defenders from various Eurasian countries, organized by the “Human Rights House” Foundation in Oslo.
