The exhibition “Face of a Defender” will be set up in Tuzla, Banja Luka and Sarajevo

The exhibition “Face of a Defender” will be set up in three cities – Tuzla, Banja Luka and Sarajevo, and visitors will have the opportunity to see photographs of portraits of 12 female human rights defenders from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The aim of the exhibition is to recognize human rights defenders from Bosnia and Herzegovina who do not give up in the fight for human dignity and well-being, and to bring citizens closer and familiarize them with their work.

The photos were taken by local photographers, and show 12 human rights defenders from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina who work on various issues: from protecting and promoting the rights of women, children and other vulnerable and minority groups, to building peace and a culture of remembrance, protecting the environment and fighting corruption.

The defenders were nominated by civil society organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the selection was made by an expert jury.

The first exhibition will be held in Tuzla on March 25 and 26, and is organized by the “Human Rights House” Banja Luka and the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly, with the partner support of the Youth Resource Centre (ORC) Tuzla. The opening is scheduled for 1:00 PM on March 25.

The exhibition will then be held in Banja Luka, with the opening planned for March 28 at 6:00 PM at the Vagon Gallery, while the exhibition in Sarajevo is scheduled for April 11 at the Collegium Artisticum.

The exhibition also aims to inform citizens about the work of the “Human Rights House” Banja Luka and its legal team, which provides free legal assistance to defenders who find themselves in crisis or risky situations.

The exhibition “Face of a Defender” can also be seen in a virtual format at: https://kucaljudskihprava.org/izlozba-lice-braniteljice/, where you can also read inspiring interviews with 12 defenders.

The exhibition is inspired by the “Portraits of Strength” depicting women human rights defenders from various Eurasian countries, which were organized by the “Human Rights House” Foundation from Oslo.
