The first module of education within the project Youth in the Human Rights House Banja Luka was successfully completed.
Young people from Bugojno, Glamoč, Bijeljina, Laktaši and Banja Luka came with the question “Why do we need human rights?”
In order to answer this question, several topics were covered within the framework of education on human rights and video activism.
The first of them was exactly Why do we need human rights? In it, we discussed what human rights are, why and how they arise, what international conventions on human rights mean to us, and how human rights are applied in the system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Within the second topic How to fight for the protection of rights? we discussed what human rights protection mechanisms exist and what to do as an individual when your rights are violated.
The third topic was about advocacy and video activism. In it, we talked about how to advocate for change, why use a very short video format in advocacy, what tools are needed, how to present news or activist action in a short format, and how to respect the copyright of others.
As the last part of this education, the participants created videos on the spot.
The lecturers and facilitators at this training were Branislav Ristić from Hi Neighbour and Dejan Lučka from the Banjaluka Centre for Human Rights.
The education lasted from 11 to 13 April 2024. The organizer was the organization Hi Neighbour, and the organization was supported by the Banjaluka Centre for Human Rights.
The activity as part of the project Youth in the Human Rights House Banja Luka is supported by the Government of the Czech Republic through its Transition program.
